Simplicity in the High Rise Arthit – Intukarn Sirisant People may believe that, in whichever situation in life, it gets tougher as you climb higher. However, a couple attests otherwise. For Arthit and Intukarn Sirisant, they consider their home in the high rise building in the city’s center the warm love nest where they started their family. Let’s go meet with Arthit aka. Oat, Managing Director of Lasen’s and Intukarn aka. In, Editor in Chief of the magazine, Honeymoon + Travel. The first day... “We’ve known each other since high school and slightly grew apart when we continued our studies abroad. But in the end, we got back together and tied the knot!” “It’s been 12 years since we’ve wed and lived here. We initially selected this condominium because it was convenient for us to travel to work and much easier to take care of than a single home. So this spacious single unit on the 29th floor centered in Thong Lor was transformed in a lovely and comfortable home for this small family, with every aspect reflecting the personal tastes of both In and Oat. Love blossomed... “Oat is responsible for designing the interior and fortunately we had similar tastes in decor, so there were no arguments. We wanted a place that had a cozy and warm atmosphere. We loved to collect items when traveling abroad so we definitely needed storage space! We had a comfortable and open space in mind so we needed to adjust the functionality of each room, such as expanding the kitchen (In loves to cook) and changing the look of the living room with the addition of a Plasma screen television. The core of the room had a built-in closet hidden in the walls, creating more room for living space.” “In loves to cook but lately her workload has limited her time in the kitchen. Every week, we would have a small gathering of family or friends, so I’ve designed particular lighting installations to suit each group of guests. For small parties, only the lights in the lower wall would be turned on to pave way to the bathroom. For an intimate setting of close friends, I would switch on only the lights in the closet so we sit down and chat comfortably. For our senior family members, we would normally just turn on the lights in the living room.” Our love... “Oat loves to take photos and would take on the role as the freelance photographer when I would go abroad for stories to publish in my magazine. He focuses on landscape, interior design and the lives of people and their culture.” “When I have the opportunity to travel to these different places, I mostly snap pictures of hotels. I studied interior design and in those visits, I’m able to learn something new and take note of the materials used in each country. Both of us love to travel to countries with cultures that date back, such as India, Nepal and Bhutan. As soon as I arrive home, I download my photos to my computer, add effects and retouch on color, as well as print them on paper. That’s why I love photography; I’m able to be in control of every step from beginning to end. It differs from interior design, which for me, before any work is completed, it is a time consuming process which involves many people.
We complete each other... “Life for us right now is perfect and we enjoy our personal space. In is devoted to her writing and I love to toy with my photos on the computer. I can not visualize how our lives would be if a baby came in the picture.” “I believe that a baby should be a decision firmly made between two people to avoid any sort of problems. We’ve been asked if we ever get lonely but I would have to say that we’re used to spending our lives together and we’re not missing anything at the moment.” “We are content in spending our free time with close friends and leading our comfortable lives.” Oat concluded, his eyes gleaming with joy as he talks about the happy life and mutual understanding he shares with his loved one. |
